This hike just minutes from Breckenridge is a wonderful glimpse into the beautiful nature of the Rocky Mountains and ends at a peaceful lake that sits just below mountain peaks and small waterfalls.
Begin at the trailhead on Spruce Creek Road – you’ll see a parking lot and the road becomes too rocky for regular cars after this trailhead so it should be obvious. Continue south on Spruce Creek Road and turn right to go uphill on Road 803. Follow this road for a few miles and continue straight when you pass other trail junctions. You’ll walk on the left side of a creek and through meadows before you make it to Crystal Lake. Return to your car the same way.
After Crystal Lake, continue on the trail for a strenuous mile-long additional hike to an upper lake.
