If you’re looking for a hike without a long drive from Denver, this loop is a great choice! You won’t get stunning mountain vistas, but you should enjoy a pleasant, moderately challenging walk through the rolling hills and forests above Golden.

Begin the hike at Apex Park / Heritage Park Parking Lot located off Heritage Road just before Colfax Ave. Go straight uphill on the Apex Trail for 2.5 miles, at which point you should go left onto the Enchanted Forest Trail, which takes you through a dense, shady, and very peaceful pine forest. After 1.5 more miles, you’ll reach the end of this trail and loop back onto the Apex Trail which takes you back downhill to your car.
