I found this hike to be difficult (it is straight uphill) without much of a reward in terms of natural beauty – you’re not in the mountains and there’s not even many trees. But if you’re looking for a nearby hike that will burn your legs, hit this trail!
Park alongside Highway 6 and begin the trail on the west side of the highway. You’ll pass a creek and then a road. The trail ends at a viewpoint on another junction with the road; if you’re ready for more of a climb, you can connect from this point to the short Beaver Brook trail or the longer Lookout Mountain Trail, the latter of which also takes you toward Buffalo Bill’s grave. Once you’re ready to call it a day, take the same trail back downhill to your car.
