This park in the foothills above Golden contains over 20 miles of hiking – I suggest doing a 5 mile loop to see the best views and avoid a ton of backtracking. There isn’t anything dramatically unique about this area and you’re not really in the Rockies, but its pleasant meadows are peaceful to explore.
Begin the hike at the Rawhide Loop trailhead on Belcher Hill Road 11 miles northwest of Golden. Begin to your right on the Rawhide Trail. When you reach a creek, make left on Wrangler’s Run; at the conclusion of that trail, make another left and continue straight past the Belcher Hill turnoff to return to your car.
